Over the past 12 months, the government has created an estimated 1.6 million new jobs in the country, and commenced the implementation of the National Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP). As a result of the backward integration policies, Nigeria now has a capacity to produce 28.5 million metric tonnes of cement, which is a transformation from the 2 million metric tonnes in 2002. Indeed, in 2013 Nigeria became a net exporter of cement, for the first time in history.
