The Bureau in collaboration
with DFID-FEPAR, and SPARC launched a Community of Practice (CoP) for Federal and
States Public Services (States Reform Agencies) at the new Chelsea Hotel, Abuja
from Tuesday, 5th to Wednesday, 6th April 2016.
The participating States at the inaugural launching
of the CoP were Kaduna, Cross River, Lagos, Enugu, Ebonyi, Yobe, and Zamfara
States while from the Federal level, the Ministry of Budget and National
Planning, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF),
Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; and the Federal
Ministry of Finance participated at the launching of the COP in Abuja.
The
inaugural meeting of the CoP was facilitated by Dr. Tunji Olaopa, a retired
Federal Permanent Secretary, and now of the Ibadan School of Governance and
Public Policy. The primary objective for the launch of the Community of
Practice is to promote better Federal-States collaboration, learning and transfer
of reforms knowledge around demand driven areas of interest, thematic or
sectoral issues. The launch of the CoP is to facilitate information exchange
and experience sharing on the various reforms taking place at the national and
sub-national levels by building on the work, experiences, knowledge and tools of participants at the Federal and State level.
A CoP Communique was issued
at the end of the launch on Wednesday, 6th April 2016. The communique focused essentially
on CoP sustainability, platform, mode of communication, and funding.
Participants both at the Federal and State level evaluated the launch of the CoP
as a welcome development in the promotion of Federal-State collaboration,
learning and transfer around reforms knowledge; and also as most educative and
beneficial.
