Federal Secretariat, Abuja |
The Federal Character Commission (FCC), says recruitment
process by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), are now more transparent
due to strict monitoring its officials.
David Fakeye, Director, Monitoring and Enforcement in
the FCC, said this at a one-day sensitisation workshop for MDAs on Thursday in
Abuja.
Mr. Fakeye said chief executive officers were now
conscious of their obligations to strive for ethnic diversity during
recruitment.
He said prospective applicants had become increasingly
confident that they did not need to have relations or somebody in any MDAs
before they were employed.
The director said the development of appropriate
formulae, procedures and guidelines by the commission had become effective
tools for redressing perceived imbalances which reduced the fears of
marginalisation.
Mr. Fakeye said the principles of the commission made it
mandatory for all government establishments to comply with the recruitment
process and requirements.
He said this had made the recruitment by MDAs become
transparent through strict adherence to laid down guidelines and procedures.
The director said every section or ethnic group did not
need to resort to violence before their concerns were heard.
He said this was because an impartial and professional
platform through which complaints of marginalisation would be addressed had
been provided by the Commission. (NAN)
