The Federal Government will continue to support the families and wards of fallen heroes.
This was the position of the Honourable Minister of Defence, Muhammad Mansur Dan-Ali at the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Ministerial Press Briefing.
The Minister said that the celebration is not only to remember, but to also draw attention to the challenges and aspirations of the loved ones that they left behind.
He therefore urged Nigerians in all works of life to join the Federal Government in efforts to reach out to their family members.
Dan Ali said that the theme for the year 2016 Armed Forces Remembrances day, which is; “Motivating the Nigerian Armed Forces for Effective Service Delivery” was carefully chosen to appreciate the landmark achievement made by Nigerian troops in the North East and to also reassure Nigerians that the Armed Forces is committed to doing all within its power to maintain the indivisibility of the country.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is usually celebrated on the 15th day of every January to coincide with the end of the Nigerian Civil War and to also recognise the sacrifices of members of the nation’s Armed Forces in the world wars, and various Peace Support Operations. (NTA)
