Dr Joe Abah - Director General

Bureau of Public Service Reforms

Hello readers
This bumper edition is a compilation of the major activities of the busy period of November and December 2015 in the Bureau.
This period witnessed yet another elevation for the Bureau with the award of the most outstanding Public Institutions awards and a prize of five hundred thousand Naira which the Bureau donated to the FCT School for the blind.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir David Lawal chaired the maiden Steering Committee on Reforms meeting under the current administration in which major decisions on Reforms were reached. Also, the Director General of the Bureau accompanied by top management staff briefed the new Ag. Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Oyo-Ita on its activities and functions including key reform initiatives undertaken since 1999.
During the period, the Bureau was kept busy with its membership of the committee on review of structures of MDAs constituted by the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita. Also one of the legacy programmes of the Bureau, the pre-retirement training of Officers in Federal Parastatals to equip them with skills outside the Public Service held in the six geo-political zones of the Country.
The Bureau’s participation in the World Bank 2015 policy and institutional assessment consultative forum and the institutional self-assessment tool developed by BPSR for government Agencies being piloted are also worthy of mention.
In 2016, the Bureau will be busy with the restructuring of Federal Parastatals, realignment of mandates of Ministries and other Public Service reform programmes.
I wish to thank our readers for keeping company with the BPSR e-monthly reformer and wish all a merry Christmas and happy New Year.
