He equally launched an online portal to serve as a common platform for all of federal government’s diverse youth training entrepreneurship interventions.
The portal - Nigeria Youth Entrepreneurship Network (NYENET.COM) - is government’s collaboration with the Founder of Empower Nigeria, Nicholas Okoye.
The launch was held at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa.
The broad based public-private platform according to the president, is designed to accelerate the already fast-moving train of young entrepreneurs through government interventions that have created 1.4 million additional jobs in the country.
He said his administration had provided over 5.4 million jobs for Nigerians, promising to do more.
He added that government would continue to partner with the private sector to reach the target of creating two million jobs for Nigerians every year through the diversification of the nation’s economy.
Jonathan added that the first batch of about 2,000 beneficiaries of one of the schemes had created additional 22 jobs each.
“This one-stop portal that will enhance government’s ability to reach out to the young,” Jonathan said.
Accordinng to him, the new online portal would give young entrepreneurs opportunities for both training and funding for entrepreneurial ideas.
As part of YES, Jonathan signed into the ‘Coalition of Super Mentors’, encouraging other big and prominent Nigerians to follow suit. THISDAY
