The federal government has expressed concern with the increasing number of expatriate workers in Nigeria’s emerging electricity industry and has vowed to take measures to cut back on certain jobs in the sector and make them available for Nigerians.
The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, said on Wednesday in Abuja that the government has initiated a one-year apprenticeship scheme to train 7400 young Nigerians on technical shores in the sector.
Nebo spoke to journalists on the imminent launch of the National Power Sector Apprenticeship Scheme (NAPSAS), the new measure to bring back technical jobs for Nigerians in the power sector. The scheme is scheduled to be launched by President Goodluck Jonathan.
